Heard somewhere that developement of this mod has been stopped?

Would like to know what the current developement of this mod is.

How complete is this mod %-wise (alpha, beta, finished)?

I just heard about this mod today, played it a little bit and am AMAZED to see what has been done to the original Diablo 1! Really thought that it could not get any better than the "THE HELL" modification for Diablo 1 but man, I was wrong!

Yes, temporarily. The dev's are taking a break. Bug fixes and smaller changes are still ongoing however.

This is an open beta. There is still work to be done, however the dev's haven't released an official plan regarding what else is to be done. They have mentioned about implementing multiplayer and reworking the quest menu. Maybe someone else can add to my list.

Realistically the best thing to do is peruse the forum and read the various posts and use the search function.

There is a wealth of information that has already been covered and patch notes will tell you if bugs or changes have been implemented yet.
