AVG Free false positive

Post by Jofuss »

Just a heads up, and I don't know why today and not yesterday, but I just got a false positive off AVG Free for Belzebub.exe as a possible threat of "Unknown"

Most likely some combination of whatever I did but figured I'd put it out there.

thats probably because the .exe is packed/encrypted. this is a bad idea, not just because AV false positives but also because the base address changes on every launch and crash reports become useless

if it was done to protect the exe, its easy to get the original exe with ollydbg. if its about reducing its size, after compressing with rar/zip the file has the same size not matter if the exe was compressed or not. also, compressing the exe will slow down the game loading on startup
