So as a slight back story my first chart was a warrior then figured I'd try sorc next and it's easy mode like I remember it back in the 90s playing this lol.
But boy did hell mode slap the taste out my mouth.... I now find myself beating down special monsters not with spells but tactics and prayers. It's 20 mana potions a battle insane..
Anyway my questions are thus
So I know at this stage it's all about elemental -% on your weapons for a sorc to stand a chance but I basically am getting a flat tire around catacombs. I'm farming chamber but nothing related to it drops at all. So any ideas where to find? My stats are fine. All magic btw and I cast faster than the road runner on angle dust.
Second question is sadly about crafting. Is crafting my only hope for said gear to pull me further into hell?
Thanks for the inputs.
Just a few hell mode questions and impressions.

If you want to craft you can using Conjuror recipes and aim for +3 Chain Lightning, magic, mana, mana regen, all these on grand crown, plated belt and jewelry. On a staff get some + spell levels and -10-20 elemental resistances, not to hard to get since there aren't many affixes that spawn on staves, doing Zhar the Mad, finding the Slain Hero on Caves lvl 9 and Fleshdoom i believe can give you some potential good staves with these affixes.
Apart from Blinks, Gargoyles and something else i'm forgetting none are immune to lightning and these are pretty slow and can easily be dealt with using Blizzard or Meteor Cluster. And Golem must always be up to take the hits for you, you will resummon him a lot but better he dies that you. In Caves depends on roll, but maybe you won't get Lightning Demons and other lightning immunes so Chain Lightning also works well.
Don't bother to farm Chamber of Bone, instead get to Hell levels and farm Lost Treasure chests and maybe the Bookcases in the Soulstone Chamber if you want to and need some more books for the higher level spells.

Well I'm in hell now, and almost everything falls to chain lightning anyway I suppose I can skip all what can't be beaten yet and try to go for the treasure chests. Just having a drag on some special adds I come across. The ones with haste, bethmoth, extra strong, and resists what feels like everything.
I have yet to come across anything with conjuror in its name for crafting. And I already have staple books in my stash just waiting for the magic to use em.
I did come across this crafting scroll called "upgrade crafted weapon" was gonna give that a spin but the idea you suggested sounds more solid thanks

When i said Hell levels i meant Dungeon Levels 13+ because as you enter 13 you can get the Lost Treasure quest from Wirt. As for uniq monsters Behemoth is not as bad with sorc, if they aren't magic immune just use Bone Spirit, it takes hundreds off their life pool, with those (Element) Enhanced you can break with Elemental Drain, and with Haste i use Temporal Slowdown and also summon a Sentinel and generally use Blizzard to slow them down a bit more, Golem and Stone Curse can also help, and i don't remember seeing Extra Strong, maybe you wanted to say Mastery, which makes them hit harder, but you are trying to not get hit anyway and there's no difference when you hit them.
And upgrade Crafted Weapon is not that good for you, it only boosts base damage and your Sorcerer doesn't use his staff in melee, but it will help your melee characters.

Thanks a lot man. I hadn't read threw all the forms but you should consider selling guides these details are a life savor. Dealing with some of these mobs has turned into a stand up and lean into the screen kinda fights the deeper into difficulty I get.
I think one big problem I have fallen prey to is during my golems attack I'm spamming chain lighting literally covering both my golem and the enemy so when it dies I don't notice or didn't hear it and I can't see the enemy advancing toward me or his auto poision spit on striking collecting under my feet. With my cast speed death sometimes is instantaneous.
Anyway thanks for the tips
