Starting Warrior Looking for advice ;)

Post by moses_2265 »

Hello,
Would love to hear your input regarding how to distribute stats on my new warrior.

what in your opinion is optimal?

I have a lot of leveling gear since my level 52 sorc already farmed a lot for other chars ,but when it comes to actual stat distribution I'm kinda clueless,do you think I should invest in dex? and if so ,how much?

How much points in vit?

thanks for the help.

Just STR, anything else you'd need you'd get from gear, STR is best for your skills that give more bonuses than DEX or VIT. VIT is actually useless, just the life gain is kinda insignificant for all character (except Necro for better minions and higher pool to cast spells with Blood Ritual that increases life by %). And the bonuses from spending points into DEX are low compared to some affixes that boost % crit chance, the % To Hit is again low for the DEX you'd invest and with let's say +60 all attributes from gear it's more than enough % To Hit, plus your skills give % To Hit anyway and it can spawn on rings and weapon in higher values than you could get if you spend all points in DEX. And with more STR you can wear best armor, so the AC bonus from DEX is not needed, especially with a shield that gives some more AC that other characters don't get.

As a rule invest points only in what increases your skills, for each character. It's ok if you spend 5,10,15 points in whatever, you won't be gimped if you do, but don't spend too much on anything that doesn't increase your skills.

And for Warrior, be sure to use the fastest speed weapons, scimitar/rapier and long sword/battle sword are best for sharps, and flail/knout and scepter/war scepter for blunts, use them each for areas that have either predominant animals or undead for the % bonus damage. Then get some % hit recovery on armor pieces, and % life/mana leech on rings and weapons. Resistances and +life are always good and later on at the end of Hell difficulty and Torment look for % Crit chance and % Crit Dmg and anything that boosts speed further for more physical dmg, the flat elemental dmg is not always best (i find cold is good but not as common as lightning or fire) because in higher difficulties most monsters are immune so it doesn't affect them most of the time. Hope i didn't forget anything important.

Well, thing is the forum activity here is low compared to other games/mods, i just happen to be visible by posting more often, i'm sure others know as much or maybe more but keep a low profile. And frankly with all the limitations and game's mechanics there is not much room for discussions, so the answers are not as varied and pretty straight because at the core the game is somewhat simple once you experience it in full, and many times i've seen other ppls' answers and they were just what i would have said. So after all i'd be just another guy if the mod was as popular as newer titles with a big community.

But since this is an old game and i was blown away with the changes made and how well the spirit of the mod was kept so that it still is Diablo (and not another game entirely like most mods) i've decided to stay around and help how i can even if i don't actively play the mod anymore. I liked the challenge most and for me it was something fresh compared to other ARPGs that inevitably reach a point where you just face roll everything and eventually get bored once you have your OP/invincible build and play it to exhaustion. And with this mod i've made mistakes, i've felt i was stuck and overlooked things that later became the norm to play the mod effectively, and after all i like to think that i still get how new players feel so now if i can help then i will, i've had a lot of fun playing and trying most things out so i'd like to give something back. That's it, i dunno why i talked about me but whatever, i hope ppl enjoy the game as much as i have and don't get discouraged and quit when they feel they hit a wall.
