So I can't even run this!

Post by Dahnte »

Hello all! Like just about everyone here, I love the Diablo series. And although I'm playing D3 right now, it made me feel a bit nostalgic for the original game.

Then I stumbled upon this mod and it looks amazing. If nothing else, the fact that you can have better resolution sold me on it. However, I cannot get this thing to work. D3 is on a desktop computer that's shared with everyone but I have an older laptop that I can use whenever I want. I figured I'd put it on here to play when I can't play D3.

I know this thing is a bit old but it's run games like Final Fantasy XI, Terraria, Crypt of the Necrodancer, etc. Heck, it does run Diablo 1 by itself, without the mod, however every time I try to run it with the mod I get this line:

Failed to create Image Pcx texture - create texture, openGL illegal function value

And here's the log file:

I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, tried different versions of the mod (found the link to the Mega folder that has every single version of the mod in it) and all of them do the same thing.

Am I just SOL on playing the HD version of this game on here?

That error isn't exactly the same one I was getting and I already tried many suggestions from other error threads.

I find it really bizzare that Diablo will work fine without the mod but when I try the mod it gives me that really obscre error.

I guess I'm just out of luck. :(

The mod require OpenGL, Diablo not.

I guess, the problem is connected with your GPU: Intel 965/963 Graphics Media Accelerator.

I've pretty much accepted the fact that I won't be able to play this but I just have one last question.

What version of OpenGL does this mod use?

The Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset family supports up to OpenGL 2.0 100%. Anything higher though and that's where it craps out. Here's further proof of that: http://oi58.tinypic.com/v3lmz4.jpg

-Edit-
I know I should probably just give up but I -really- want to play this mod. The videos got me all sorts of excited and this game would be perfect if I can just get it to work. I know this is a total long shot but I'm willing to try just about anything on this machine to make it work lol.

Don't use factory chipsets for gaming, even if the game is old and/or modified. They are only designed for browsing purposes and nothing else.

More people had problems with Intel 965/963 Graphics Media Accelerator.
