I had 6 characters, one of each class, played for several weeks. Highest char level is 29. Status always saved when I exited game.
Now, a problem. I play for a while, maybe find a new waypoint or complete a quest or level up, but when I exit the game, progress is not saved. Yes, I have character-save files in the appropriate folder, but playing today (1/20) does not result in an updated char-save file being created to replace the prior char-save file dated 1/15. No record of waypoints found, items, quests completed... nothing.
Has anyone else had this issue? Any idea how to solve the problem? Thank you.

I had the same problem but found a solution.
If Diablo ist installed in your /ProgramFiles/ folder it will try to create savestates but fail because it has no adminstration rights in some Windows Versions (i use Windows 8.1)
If you run belzebub with admin rights the savegstates will be created normaly. (you can create a shortcut which always run in admin mode.)
Another option is to install the game in an admin free destination folder.

Glad to know I'm not the only one, though I feel bad for other frustrated players. Here is what happened to me - I don't know how - and how I resolved the issue.
My "Documents" folder had gotten put into Read-Only status. I didn't see any notifications coming thru the Belzebub UI, but apparently it was *trying* to save on exit, and not able to. I turned off the Read-Only status, so now when I exit the game and it tries to save the new version of the character save file, the save succeeds. If you're having trouble, make sure that the folder containing your save files is NOT set to Read-Only ... right-click, select Properties, be sure the checkbox is Unchecked.
I hope this helps someone.
