Game doesn't start :s

So basically I installed diablo 1, then extracted the mod archive from http://mod.diablo1.eu.org/download/ into the diablo folder and when I press the Belzebub icon to run the mod nothing happens - there is no error popping up, game doesnt start, no process in the Task Manager or anything else.

I'm having microsoft c++ redistributable and netframework 4 installed.
This is what log.txt says:

LOG START AT = 2014-10-18-19-15-17
APP: Initializing application.
APP: Initializing SDL.
APP: Creating Game Object.
APP: GameContainer creation start.
APP: GameContainer creation finished.
APP: SDL setting inital video mode.
APP: SDL setting inital video mode failed.

Any help is really appreciated, I really'd like to try this mod out.

Looks like you have issues with your graphics card or its drivers.
Which are these?

Its GeForce GTX 550 Ti and the driver's version is 9.18.13.4052 (which is the newest one as far as I know)

EDIT: Just reinstalled my drivers and nothing changed :s

Have you coped the diabdat.mpq over from your CD.

I know you don't have to do this.You can just play with the CD in but sometimes computers are weird. It might help.

Also if you have a second hard drive try installing it on that.

I once had a rar file that keep giving me errors when I tried unpacking it. Then I moved it to a new HDD and tried unpacking it and it worked.

This is the kinda stuff I would try.

Both copying the diabdat.mpq and moving the game onto my portable HDD didnt work, game still wont start :S

Any other suggestions guys ? I'd really like to check this mod out.

Did you unpacked only 1.045.rar or 1.042 and then 1.045? If you did 1.045 over 1.042 and it's still not opening try tu uninstall Diablo and delete whole folder with all Diablo and mod files and try this way:

1) Install Diablo
2) Create folder in Diablo directory, let's say 'belzebub'
3) Unpack 1.042.rar to 'belzebub' folder
4) Unpack 1.045.rar to 'belzebub' folder. Replace all files that is needed
5) Copy diabdat.mpq to 'belzebub' folder
6) Enjoy your game

Did as you said, step by step and still game wont start.

Delete settings file, run game on other computer.

I have similiar problem the only diffrence is i don't have the last line in that log

I have following video card Radeon R7 260x with newest drivers.
OS: Win XP

I checked that i have belzebub.exe opened in my processes but nothing happens. It looks like it hangs at some point since theres not even "log end" message at the end of the log.

edit: nvm i restarted PC and it works now

edit2: this is weird i tried to play later and again i canno't launch the game (its in processes but nothing happens after) it would be sucks if i had to restart the system everytime i wan't to play

anyone have a clue whats the problem here? It seems that i can launch the game once and then i have to restart the PC to do it again everytime
