Quest items

Post by Wojtek25 »

Maybe with difficulty level quest items will drop better ( as i saw , there's no drop on nightmare , hell and torment )

example :

Normal

The Butcher Cleaver
Damage : 4-24
Durability : 12/12
Required Level : 3
Axe Class - Very fast attack speed (barbarian ;p)
+10 Strenght
Altered durability
Unusual item damage

Nightmare:

Nightmarish Butcher Cleaver
Damage : 8-48
Durability : 20/20
Required Level : 30 (my normal ending level)
Axe Class - Very fast attack speed
+25 Strenght
Unusual item damage
5% life steal

I don't say about using my own properties but it was just example. Same with Undead Crown and other quest items. What do you think about it?

As far as I know, a similar item (but rare, rather than unique) drops in higher difficulties. I think how it is currently is quite good. For the Butcher's Cleaver specifically, however, I think that the (exceptional) unique weapon "Butcher's Pupil" which was in Diablo II would be a great idea for a Nightmare drop from The Butcher.

The "Butcher's Pupil" stats can be seen here:

Maybe you're right , that's item isn't a bit too good? I didn't find anything better (I'm at lvl 13 nightmare). Other weapons are weak and awful compared with "Butcher's Pupil" ;)

That's a good point. In that case, a weapon called "Butcher's Pupil" but with the stats you mentioned could drop, or have a toned-down version of the D2 Butcher's Pupil's stats.

Yes, quest items are dropped only on normal difficulty. On later difficulties drop is related to quest items item type. So in nightmare+ you will get rare ring for Poisoned supply water and Magic Rock quests, helm from Leoric, axe from butcher and so on. But it's random - you can get Cap from Leoric but Great Helm or better helm as well.

Don't change their look ! "undead crown" and you saw great helm... Just change their stats and name. (I don't wanna change from undead crown to undead helm...)

That quest is a decent way to find better helms on Hell/Torment difficulties. Leoric can be easily killed since you can teleport into his room without opening the gate to activate him, then teleport out and be immune to his physical damage. Just cast fire or lightning wall against the gate and he'll be toast pretty harmlessly.
