Version beta 1.041 - Bugs

Post by Constance »

So, since beta 1.041 appears to now be the latest official beta, here's a new thread to report bugs that have been found while playing this version — and perhaps some suggestions as well :D

Now if I may, I shall begin.

As this new version allows to set the game to play on higher resolutions, it helped make it more obvious that there seems to be a few issues with how lines of sight are calculated.
For example I don't think my Warrior should be capable of seeing that skeleton on the right from here: http://uppix.net/oUv6BG.png
and he probably should not be able to see the whole group of skeleton archers there: http://uppix.net/qh8TXB.png

Edit: Another resolution related bug : the higher you set the game's resolution, the more distorted the Credits' screen picture becomes, even if you stay in a 4:3 mode.
See examples in 1600x1200 and 2048x1536.
BTW I had to take these screenshots with Fraps as the game didn't seem to save them from here.

Suggestion: would be nice to make the video and sound options available from the menus while not playing a character too.

Do we really need new threads for each new patch? o_O Im sorry for apparently starting that trend, but i created a thread about bugs and suggestions after the first one got locked (but is now, by the way, open again, what the hell?).

My vote goes for merging all the bugs&suggestion threads into one so everyone can easily keep track on these things.

Well, I don't know, I thought it would help making sure bugs being reported are actually related to the current version and have not been fixed yet, though it's still possible that people would not pay enough attention.
I'm not against merging though if the moderators decide so ^^

I personally feel as though there should be a bug thread for each release, when the new release comes out, the previous should be locked.

I think suggestions should have there own thread. They should possibly be treated the same as with bugs for each version as that you do not want a current list of suggestions that has a bunch of stuff that has already been either included or rejected.

Dividing bug reports threads from suggestions threads would mean two kind of threads every single patch. :/

What if we posted bugs in the threads created my mods/admins about new patches being released? Like in this one being the most recent: http://awake.diablo1.eu.org/beta-1-041-t540.html

Then suggestions could be stored in single thread regardless of the patch they are reffering to, as 99% of them are about the gameplay overall, not the gameplay from the specific version of the mod. It wouldnt matter at what patch user was playing, its still the same game.

This way we could also avoid multiple unnecesesary threads being spawned like they did after v1.04 and game crashing upon launching.

I agree that suggestions probably should have a dedicated thread, not related to the current version of the game.

Until it has been decided however, here's one:
I guess characters should either not being able to stand on the same field as those flames which frequently appear in rooms with library tomes and skeletons or regularly take a little fire damage from doing so.

I suggest making a new thread for suggestions with a list of them all gathered from all the suggestions threads from this forum, and with a poll to vote "for" or "against" listed suggestion. Im already on it.

Another bug: if you try to cast a spell using a scroll while walking, sometimes the scroll will just disappear, without the casting animation playing or the spell being cast.

Also, it doesn't seem possible to place a firewall on a doorway if it has an door (even when it's open), yet the mana is still used.
