Points per level up?

Post by deus-misereatur »

Just wondering, but does anyone know where Diablo / Belzebub stores the data for how many points gained per level up? It is a fairly simple thing to edit in Diablo II and what with Belzebub getting rid of stat caps, this could be an interesting edit to make.

Thanks!

Do you mean the 5-points-per-level rule, or how many points your character has in each ability? I... well I don't advocate hacking any part of this game since it's fun as hell as is and it'd be rude of us to talk about that here on the official site, but if you're determined to go out and find that info on your own I'd just warn that you want to stick to character-specific changes and not change the root rules that came down all the way from the base game 20 years ago. You start getting very weird errors, like equipment no longer being able to see what level you are and corruptions to the character models, or just turning the whole game into an unplayable mess that crashes your system when you start it up.

Yeah, that's usually what happens whenever I play any game. I get the itch to change certain aspects, and either through CheatEngine disassembly tools / online modding resources, I edit parts of my game until sometimes it just breaks! :-p.

Still, I gotta scratch the itch when it comes though. Unfortunately, while unmodded Diablo I has its modding resources, even those seem to not have the offsets to change the 5 points per level up. Thought I'd just try my luck here, in case anyone has managed to stumble across this data whether its for the vanilla game, or the Belzebub version, on the off-chance.

Anyways, thanks for the reply, though!
