Best ways to deal with "Possessed" enemies?

Post by thaecrasis »

I'm a warrior that just got to nightmare difficulty, and I've managed to deal with possessed enemies so far with spells, but I imagine that won't be too easy later on especially in Hell and Torment when they're immune to almost everything.

In close combat, you can't do much to them, since they freeze you and also drain 100% of your mana, which seems a little insane.

I'm just wondering what some of you do, to deal with possessed enemies most effectively.

Without freeze immunity I haven't find an effective way to fight them. There are some uniques that grant such property. Until you get one, I suggest just running away from them if it is possible. Also luring them one by one into narrow places (like doors) is probably the best way to deal with them if you can't fight them all at once yet.
I had the same issue when I started playing Belzebub and ended up just running away when saw a group of these. That was happening until I could afford wearing one of items with "Cannot be frozen" property. I guess there is no good solution.
I can only suggest rolling a Sorcerer and looking for Bloodlord's Visor in Hell difficulty's Treasure Cave (that also will help your character gear up other pieces of equipment).

For warrior, keep your golem as a distraction, teleport away until you can isolate them one at a time. use Bow of the Dead and enough mana drain on rings to keep enough mana to cast golem and teleport. Pick them off with the bow and retreat. Try to trap them in rooms where they are stuck in doors.

Get your resistances up to max and find Immune to cold item to equip.
