Comprehensive tip list?

Is there a compendium on tips somewhere?
Like, so far I've been able to figure from the forums that:
1. The Lost Chests are a great place to MF once you get to hell.
2. The Sorc is a great first character.
3. Putting hard points into Vit isn't that great, get life on gear. (And obviously not on a sorc. Pump that Magic baby!)
4. Heartseeker. GIT IT
5. Gamble for ward bows to get that Heartseeker.
6. IAS is more important than damage.

But I'd like to kinda get more of an idea of things. Are the end game sets worth farming? What other items should I be keeping an eye out for when gambling and such? Can hell lost chests drop all my heart desires or should I just keep up the grind to torment? Should I gear out a rogue with my hell sorc and take her to torment to farm things? Yanno, just general stuff.

Why would you want a Heartseeker with sorc? I think you don't, but the way you stated stuff suggests that.

I think rogue is also a great first character in my opinion.

Do you mean that area from Lost Treasure quest?

i never got any item higher than lv. 30 in hell lost chests.

I gambled thouthands of rings & amulets and hundreds of ward bows - never got a single unique item.

i really do not know how to farm properly with rogue on torment difficulty. i mean, it is hard, especially if rogue is going to be your "forward", so no godly gear expected yet - monsters are really tough and you will die a lot. this mod is the only game where you can be easily killed in a second: i started tournament at level 45, now is level 50 doing farming river of flame (lv. 10), then i decided "to make things faster and easier" so I went back to the cathedral (lv. 2-4) hoping for "easy walk" and suddenly found that there is almost no difference since i was there at lv 45 with even worse gear. mine death rate is almost the same

i mean, even on torment you get low level drops. it's like each difficulty raises the maximum level, but the minimum level doesn't change. from what i understand, the loot table is relatively fixed upon each new game. magic find just alters the chance of the quality of that item being higher.

i.e. the mob will drop a white buckler in one particular game. depending on your magic find, that white buckler could change to rare or unique, possibly even a set item. but with my luck, most of the time that set item shield will just be another Hsarus...

yes in tournament you will get all possible drops.
in diablo2 loot table was fixed to the monster level and monster level almost always was binded to the area level. so every time you killed the monster, game was checking the loot table of that monster to randomly select the basic items from it; and the quality of the item was generated depending from MF.
it is believed that in original diablo 1 all basic items are generated during the generation of the area and the quality of the item was selected depending from MF.
But, how it is working in HD mod I do not know. I wish it is as in Diablo 2.

And coming back to our original post. I personally believe that farming lost treasure in hell is a waste of time. i farmed it a lot, especially because i could not beat diablo and had no choice. Yes i got items which helped me to kill him finally, but after entering tournament - all those items become obsolete. so i immediately flyed to the lost treasure tournament and farmed there. there you can expect to get upto lv. 43 items - still not enough, bit at least heartseeker is in the list, and many other good items as well. based on them it is possible to move ahead.
