Can I still play normal Diablo 1 after I setup this?

Hello to all, first, I would like to congratulate the devs for this mod, it looks awesome! Now I'm currently playing Diablo 1, and I fear that if I setup this game in my Diablo folder I might lose my chars or not be able to keep playing the regular Diablo anymore(which I play with my brother), is there such a risk? What should I do to be able to play both games, is it possible?

Hi and welcome to the forum. It's not a problem to set up the original game and the mod in the same folder, characters won't overwrite each other (they are not compatible between the two) and nothing will screw up. For this mod you may need to change properties for save files to actually save, cause if you installed the game in C:/Program Files windows won't actually save or make modifications to files in that location. And actually to play this mod, you only need the files from here http://diablo1.ovh.org/hd/?download and the diablodat.mpq from D1 cd, you can copy them anywhere, if it make you feel better in a separate folder, the game is portable so it doesn't matter, this mod just uses the assets (gfx, sounds, animations, tiles, etc) from that diablodat.mpq and everything else provided in the download is a complete recode and doesn't change the original game's files. For SP and a full experience you can play Belzebub and for multiplayer you can try the Tchernobog build but this remains in alpha so it may be annoying when it crashes because of the bugs, quests and special levels are not there, etc but you can still level up and basically beat Diablo with friends. Anyway have fun!
