Running belzebub using wine on linux mint 17.3 emulating windows 7 (tried other versions) game works in town and into level 1 for about a minute but crashes after certain animations play such as an enemy kill animation or breaking a barrel.
Anyone know what could be the cause? any help would be super appreciated. Thanks[/b]

Hi,
I just found out this mod and had to install it under linux. Installation is fairly easy and game works flawlessly. Here is how I made it:
1. I use linux Mint 17.1 and I have installed PlayOnLinux 4.2.2 which is simply WINE with huge configuration help packet. I strongly recommend that.
2. Then you have to install Diablo under PlayOnLinux
a) open POL and hit Install
b) choose "Install a non-listed program" from the left bottom corner
c) follow the steps and then Browse and show Diablo installation file on the CD drive. If asked choose WINE 1.1.26 version. This allows for original Diablo to run.
3. After Diablo is installed you should have a shortcut in POL. Download the mod, extract it and copy all files to Diablo folder + you can copy diabdat.mpq from the CD to Diablo folder - you no longer require CD in your drive. To copy files simply locate Diablo shortcut in POL and then choose "Open the directory" from the right bottom corner
4. Now select Diablo shortcut in POL and click "Configure". Select "Diablo" virtual drive on the list on the left hand and click "Make a new shortcut from this virtual drive" and select Belzebub.exe file.
5. Click on the new shortcut, choose WINE version (for me 1.7.22 works) and then select WINE tab which is next to GENERAL tab. Choose "Configure Wine" and when the new window pops up choose "Libraries" tab. From the drop-down menu "New override for library" choose openal32 and click "Add".
6. In the tab "Audio" you can make sure proper audio output is set.
7. Choose "RUN" over Belzebub icon in POL and enjoy the game
BTW without openal32 it used to crash as you described so I would assume that if you just install openal32 in WINE your problem should be gone.
