No-Disc Mode?

I just installed the HD Hellfire Mod - Awake program yesterday and am enjoying reliving the content from years ago.

One thing I'd like to do is try to run it without the disc in the drive. I'm noticing a lot of lagging whenever a trap is sprung, weapons are switched and other situations where something needs to load. The disc is spinning all the time and making noise whenever I do something.

I'm otherwise running the game well on a Windows 7 computer.

I tried checking the forums for a guide to running the game without the CD, but haven't seen anything yet.
