i realize there is an option for in town, are there any for everywhere else?

I started on diablo2, not diablo1, I find it really hard to get into this game when there is so much damn walking!

Is there townportals?

You can't change walk speed.
There are town portals.

Just play vanilla diablo 1 for a few minutes...

The run speed in belzebub is straight from heaven.
