You can tell how good your item is going to be based on its price. Two identical items sell for different prices unidentified.

I' not sure, but i just suppose it works that... Depends on price you could have output in different quality of items. I'm gonna use Diablo2 naming. If you gamble cheapest price itemtype - it's gonna be normal item. More expensive would give normal or exceptional, most expensive - normal/exceptionl/elite. Or price determine only quality of suffixes/affixes. One time i bought amulet for 121k gold, and it's that middle price range i believe, and it got me +20 mag and something about +20-30 specific res. Never even close to that bought for 50k
