Habitually use stealth. You will sometimes uncloak, but not always. Use that with Maleficent Strike from behind an enemy.

Lead into mobs with narcosis and fanaticism. Use a very fast 1-hand weapon with speed bonus. Items with movement and critical bonus are also important. Some mana drain and health leach are helpful to recharge after using those melee skills.

What I have noted when playing the assassin is that you slip into melee and chaos ensues. The battle is over very quickly, but you will have to heal and mana up before jumping into the next encounter. The assassin is always bloody at the end of a fight.

Just remember that using a shield is generally useless to this class unless it offers a specific benefit such as freeze proof or such.

I would really like to see the assassin be able to equip a 1-hand weapon as a off-hand weapon and be able to fight dual fisted. Maybe there are off-hand weapons later in torment when I get to that level, but so far nothing has been found.

There are two off-hand weapons, one is a wrist blade in Viz Jaq'tar set and it's very very rare, i only found 1 and it's that great either it's just good to complete the set, while the main-hand weapon from set is stellar and can be used alone, it's possibly the best 1h sword in game. And the other is 1 sword from the Bul'Katho's set, again very rare, and not spectacular, also requires more STR to equip.

So it's by chance that will happen? Well damn... That's gonna make the higher difficulties very problematic.

I have been doing what Draco said a few pages back, so I have been using stealth pretty frequently, especially before opening a door. Right now I'm trying to get better gear so I can survive the Hell area, my resists are garbage. lol

On all of my chars, I try to get 75%+ resists from rings, belts, and headgear. My necro is 85%-90% resist all most of the time.
