About resolution. I think it's easier to learn to play on one resolution for all players than to make them learn to play few different resolutions.

I think the resolution should stay at 800x600. The larger resolutions zoom out too far. It ruins balance, gameplay and atmosphere when your so far zoomed out.

800x600 causes my eyes to bleed on a modern screen...
thats why you can adjust resolution to what you want it and
*important* set the zoom level accordingly.
you don't wanna complain about configurating the game in a way you don't like it yourself, don't you?

So, the next version, the multiplayer version is going to be maximum 600p height (according to Brightlord)?
It seems that the marjority of players agreed with this resolution, but, and it's only my opinion, I don't think this resolution is nice... I started playing with 1280x1024, and I saw some comments about resolution so decided to lower the resolution and it really was better. And then, little by little, I lowered the resolution untill I get to 1024x768, and I thought it was the best resolution.
But when I saw the comment of Brightlord, I tried to play 800x600 and and it looked too low, I thought it looses too much the idea of " Diablo 1 HD mod".
About balance and gameplay I still don't know how exactly they are affected, it affects multiplayer PvP I imagine. But I would appreciate an explanation.
About the atmosphere, I believe it is kept because of light radius that allows you to see only what is in light. You cannot see what is happening in dark places, even if there isn't walls blocking your sight, unless there are candles or fires.
Again: It's only my opinion.

Game balance is affected because some npcs start reacting only after you close a certain distance between them and you. With high resolutions, you can see more tiles up to the point where you can target enemies even before they activate.
Simply said, with resolution high enough, you can kill ANY enemy without them fighting back. I posted a screenshot with Butcher this way:

I don't think this is the only problem, because if it was I believe it could be fixed.

When I put 800x600 it looks like this:

Is it suppose to be like this? It doesn't seem as good as the picture noktis posted.
Could it be something wrong with my machine, or this is really it?
Edit: I still don't know how to make the picture appear on the forum screen.

No Martim, nothing is wrong with your machine. Simply Noktis put a screensot in 1024x600 in the middle of talk about 800x600 which confused everyone. And he used some cheat to hide the interface
If you want the picture in your post use

tags and put the link in between them. Just dont do that with very big images as they stretch the page over its borders.

There is no cheat, what is wrong with you?... Interface was disabled. Look at official trailer, (resolution: 600p)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4PfLbMJCoA there is some scenes without interface.
