Abstract from altruistic reasons I should beware of this kind of irrational behavior, but...last time I am doing this...

I'd avoid using programs that are supposed to fix the registry, they very well may do more harm than good.

I agree on that, I'd ratner not use it:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... 5aae583700

But it's true that something is probably out of order on my PC because I tried running the mod on my old PC and there it failed but because of unsufficent graphics powers and so it created log.txt. But on this PC nothing happens, expect the named error (no log.txt).

I have a feeling I will never play this. :/

No 3rd party program will fix that.

Mod requires correct version of Visual C++ 2010 Redistibutable installed on system. Your systems comes with pre-installed C++ package however it may be older version or something is wrong with it. Solution is to install correct Visual C++ Redistibutable or repair it.

You are missing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable.

Mod is program that is linked dynamically. It requires all .dlls in correct version to be available in system or game directory.

No offense intended but I guess it's better to take the files from the official source as much as possible, so if these are the .dll from Visual C++ 2010, the best place would be here : http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/search/D ... ilabledate

Note : how about adding a few lines about this requirement in the mod's readme file ?
I saw it mentionned OpenAL, but not that.

Constance, have you seen what the package contains from the link I gave?

It's latest "All in One Runtimes" (v2.1.1 from 08.07.2014) made by sereby.org inclusive:

.NET Framework 4.5.2 + Updates
Java Runtime Environment 8
DirectX 9.0c Zusatzdateien
General Runtime Files
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtimes
Microsoft Visual J# 2.0 SE
Microsoft Silverlight 5

I use this after every system reinstallation. Works flawless.

No, didn't even look beyond the domain's name, but this still applies :

BrightLord was right and Constance provided the right link. I installed the missing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable and now Belzebub works! :D

I almost gave up on playing this mod - and I'm such a fan of the original Diablo! Thank you all for you help! :)
