I almost think it would be worthwhile if the devs handed the code to someone else to complete multiplayer, however... I don't think anyone else could complete the masterpeice that the team here has set out to do.

The devs truly knew how to develop a polished mod. They did an amazing job on Belzebub, and I'm honoured they shared that with us. Thanks guys.

Opening the source would be the sane thing to do. It has been the sanest thing to do for a long time now - imagine what the community could have done with the mod during its hype period together with other mods. Alas, from what I read at least, the main developer has an unusually huge aversion to the idea of going open source, so yeah, the current version is most likely the final one. I am grateful nevertheless, but it is so sad to see the result of all that effort and care to decay gradually.

There is one developer since begining of project. It's not totally dead. I even added some features to multiplayer in 2015 and done 95% of work to port it to linux. Thing is... I'm now absorbed by other projects that earn $$ and are perfectly legal. :D

Why is source still closed? It's a sad story...
Only reason is that there are some people in diablo 1 modding community I simply HATE.

However I promise that source will be opened soon unless I find enough time to continue with it at reasonable pace.

Thanks for the update bright lord. Hopefully you find some time in the future to develop the belzebub mod :)

Thanks so far for making the best diablo mod ever...in many ways even surpassing the original game. I had an awesome time with the mod :)

He's alive!!!!!! Good to hear from you BrightLord, even if it's not such optimistic quotes that all of us would want to hear from you. We'ra all with you, dude. Maybe someday we will find a possibility for you to still develop your vision and make some legal $ for you (; cheers dude (:

Wow, thanks so much for this update. This is much better news than I expected. Also, perfectly understandable that you prioritize projects yielding $$, I wish you much luck with them.

That said, I'm not sure I entirely understand how your personal grudge with some community members causes reluctance to open the source. It's not like those particular people would be the only ones contributing - there are probably many people who would be willing to contribute, not just your modder archnemeses :). Besides, you can still maintain control over which community-contributed changes make it into your release (pull requests).

If you fear that those other people you hate would steal your code and incorporate it into their own existing mods, I think you underestimate the difficulty of merging two completely different codebases and overestimate the motivation of those people to even try.

Once again, thanks for all your work

Tchernobog Dev version will be shared soon. It's very incomplete... Things like quests and events don't work. It somewhat allows to to play on both single and multiplayer on normal difficulty without crashing much. :P

Although it is very incomplete, that's very good news!

Will it be shared to us to report bugs as well? I hope so!

By the way, is the name change really necessary? People already know the mod under the name Belzebub and changing it would create confusion. I bet many will just refer to it as a "Diablo 1 HD Mod" for the sake of simplicity...

Yes and no.

Technically it doesn't even have name. Belzebub and Tchernobog are just code names. Diablo 1 Hd mod is 3rd party name.

You are awesome BrightLord. Thank you for the effort to bring us this Diablo experience. Everyone appreciates your work.

What would you like from us players besides financial contributions from those of us which are able?

Would you like players to continue to report bugs and suggestions?

Thank you!

BrightLord, your work will go down in history.
I never thought I'd experience again the chills I've had playing D1 all those years back with my best bud.
