Stats for melee based chars

Post by Barbie »

Hey guys, new to this marvelous mod, and I love it! (Playing a wineskin port on my Macbook Pro).

I am now lvl 30 with my barb, I've focused mostly on pumping str and vit, as that's what all the guides tell you to do. However, I ran into a damage problem in Nightmare. So the last few levels I've been adding a bit of dex, and dex makes my damage go up way faster than adding str, besides that, dex gives a lot of other beneficial stats, I have the idea it enhances defence, chance to block, dodge etc.

Is there anyone who can explain me more about the mechanics as I haven't been able to find out a lot of these things myself.

I'm used to MedianXL, a great mod for Diablo 2:LOD in there the mechanics are very clear and you can respec your char, which means that if you mess up with the stats, you can always reset the stats and distribute them again in a better way. This makes for a very good endgame and even when you've finished all standard quests, you will realise that then, and only then the 'real game' will start. That's where the long endgame will start.

I must admit that I really like the crafting in belzebub, however, my small backpack makes it such a grind to go through this excercise all the time:
fill backpack -> tp to town -> id -> salvage items -> go back to grind

The process of tp-ing out makes it a very slow, long process. Are there tricks to remember, and will the recipes you find in higher difficulties get better? Or will the output of the same recipe get better as your level gets higher?

Thanks for this great piece of work, I'm very happy with it.

It's important to notice that each class skills are based on a particular attribute. barbarian's skills are based upon strength.

And this tread may be helpful: http://awake.diablo1.eu.org/character-g ... -t828.html

Thanks, I had already found that post. Maybe I should've started a rogue ;)

For now I started leveling my sorceror, I like him a lot and it's nice to learn to think of strategy before you go in instead of just busting in and seeing what's there with a barb/warrior :)

Great mod, can't wait till I find those supercool high-level items!
