I understand that the game has no 'save' option like the original Diablo 1. I expected that my character would be saved upon exiting (like in Diablo 2.) But it doesn't. Whenever I click 'exit game' or 'new game' and go back to the character select screen, the only option is 'new hero'. There are no files in the 'player_save' directory. So, I can never quit the game without losing my character's progress? That doesn't seem right. What am I doing wrong here?

did u try running the game as admin?
if you arent running the game with enough privileges, the savegames should be stored/loaded in the Compatibility Files folder
but it seems that belzebub has some issue saving/loading from virtualstore

runing Win7
Thanks

WIL - are you sure you right click the application and choose "Run as administrator"?
Having admin rights in your profile is not enough to elevate the application rights.
PS: you can also set the application to always run as admin, in its properties compatibility tab.
