Crafting / Salvaging

Post by Baalslayer »

Hello all. Enjoying the Mod very much thus far. Was wondering what are the variables that apply when crafting. For example, in Diablo 2, the quality of the crafts were affected by Character level & Item level. So for re-rolling charms, you would usually do it with a charm dropped from Baal in Hell difficulty with the highest level character you have.

Is there similar mechanics in this Mod? Would crafting with an Amulet or Belt found in Torment difficulty yield better results than something from Normal difficulty? Is crafting with a rare item with a high level requirement better than a random blue item gambled from Gheed? Does character level affect craft quality?

Also, was wondering if there's any formulas for salvaging. Do certain items yield certain specific gem colors, or is it just random? Which items are most likely to yield Symbols of Power & Alchemist Boxes?

On another note, one of the only things I disliked about the Mod was not being able transfer crafting materials in the shared stash. The anvil recipes learned should probably be global for all your characters, but not being able to transfer the materials is annoying. There's no use learning any of the recipes on your 2nd character, as all your crafting materials are stuck on your first character. Is there any way to change this?

Thanks for any advice!

Early on in the game, you will want to sell everything you can to build up a nest egg pile of gold for potions, repairs, spell books and scrolls, and better basic equipment.

Once you defeat the anvil quest, you should salvage all items and begin experimenting with crafting scrolls. Almost all of this will be useless for your current level character, but maybe you get lucky crafting a decent item. Once into the higher difficulty games, better crafting scrolls will drop.

Not to be a waste, build another beginning character and start off equipping that character with crafted items from the start of the game. The struggles of your first character will seem trivial.

For the end game, only the highest tier crafting scrolls have any value once you are playing in Torment with a level 50+ character.
