I got D1 a bit after it came out (I was in middle school) - I still have the CDs for D1&2 pre-download days. I just built a new gaming PC after a 8 year break and wanted to give it a go.

I have a Sorc who is like level 15 - I didn't have easy access to a CD drive so I am running I think a GOG version? I wanted to give the HD/Belzebub a try but there isn't a clear source/location for it.
I am trying to figure out if I should be installing bielzebub (https://diablo-hd-belzebub.en.uptodown. ... s/download) or the Tchernobog: Diablo 1 HD MOD v1.045 (https://mod.diablo.noktis.pl/download)

I believe the techno install has more mods to make it more like D2? Whereas Belzebub is more about HD?

In any event:
1)some advice on the differences
2) can I bring or convert my character? (the page suggests I can but doesn't say how)
3) can I dupe gold or cheat in either of these to make up for some lost time if I cant bring my characters over?

Ideally it would be great to make some kind of sticky thread with all this info so if someone (who might be a bit rusty) tries to get back into it - they could get a lot of questions answered.

If you haven't noticed, forum is pretty dead, discord is where the action is.
You can't convert characters.
Downloading belzebub from some random fishy website is the best way to get a virus, the thing you linked as Tchernobog is actually Belzebub...
Cheating in Tchernobog = ban.
