Next dumb question, if there is no quests how do i lock up higher difficulty?

Just level up your character. You don't even need to kill Dark Lord to unlock next dofficulty. The areas are locked by level (and that kinda bothers me sometimes) and you won't be able to enter zones that are way ahead of your progression.
Diablo HD is the best mod ever. Still waiting for Tchernobug fixes...
