Game being too difficult to play alone all by myself

Can't get past the first three monsters in first dungeon, playing as rogue, I always end up dying.

Is it possible to lower difficulty in this modification?

Ok, it seems a little easier now, I just tried playing as rogue again on version 6.9b, and I was able to get to level6 on my own.
