Tchernobog is very early and is still working out multi-player functionality. Quests are not active. Great work in progress . Well, it's that "in progress" part that I am unsure and worried about. There is not much progress at the moment, and there may be people out there willing to help ...

@DraconianDraco: I hear you, yet most of the problems with going open source can be entirely or partially avoided. You can have a curated process of development, where only a handful of people involved in the project would review and accept the so-called pull requests (which are units of change) sub...

Regarding the possibility to go open source, there was this comment by BrightLord almost a year ago to my question: ... Why is source still closed? It's a sad story... Only reason is that there are some people in diablo 1 modding community I simply HATE. However I promise that source will be opened ...

Help with development?

Hello dear community, seeing how the development has basically gone to a halt, and how it hurts me to see this happen, I would like to ask A) BrightLord + the admins: Would you be willing to accept help with development from the community? Would you be willing to open the source? (see comment below)...

I think the biggest problem is that the sole creator of the mod stubbornly refuses to open source it, or let volunteers participate in the development, even though he's constrained in time available for further development... So while I'm grateful for the mod's existence to Noktis, and understand hi...

OK, cool, thanks for the answer - I played Hellfire a very long time ago and didn't really remember what the quests were like. I guess it makes sense to omit them then, but it would be cool to have some new quests nonetheless.

Why not the quests, and how does this relate to Hellfire not being "official" (whatever that means) expansion?

BrightLord don't add "Hellfire" levels in "Tchernobog", because "Hellfire" is not authorized expansion to "Diablo"!
I don't understand how that by itself would be a problem, could you please elaborate?

How so? I assume law in EU regarding this is pretty similar. I live in Slovakia and I don't think there's anything preventing this here. Does that mean there are no people working for donations in Poland? I find that hard to believe. Anyway, if it's just that you don't want to be bothered with setti...

Thanks!
I think he's just fucking with you, there's probably no "secret passage opening for veteran heroes who have proven their worth by grinding endlessly till lvl 60". Bad ROLpogo, bad!

Another example came to my mind: Starcraft (original one) was quite heavily reverse-engineered and modded by people who were getting paid for it (I think, they were University staff I believe), as part of the effort to make automated matches between AI-controlled players possible. Blizzard's respons...

Hmm, I wonder if that is still a legitimate reason - there are modders (for other games) who accept donations for their work, and I don't hear about them getting a DCMA or C&D. Also, as recent events show, it can even be done legally, for some games at least, via Steam. I think other games and o...

There is one developer since begining of project. It's not totally dead. I even added some features to multiplayer in 2015 and done 95% of work to port it to linux. Thing is... I'm now absorbed by other projects that earn $$ and are perfectly legal. Very Happy Why is source still closed? It's a sad...
