They get better as you advance in levels. Low-level necromancers use them mostly as meat shields (or I guess bone shields in the case of skeletons) but they'll eventually become a good source of damage. Increasing your Vitality will give them more hit points; it may become necessary to put some poin...

As a rule of thumb, yes, it should be easy to sacrifice AC and Block Chance for better killing on a sorcerer. Your plan A should be to avoid getting hit in the first place and letting Lumpy take hits for you with Mana Shield as your backup, and killing everything that even tries to get into swing di...

Documentation, including all recipes for crafting, can be found as a download link in the first post of this thread: http://awake.diablo1.eu.org/diablo-1-hd-belzebub-documentation-v3-0-updated-21-01-t1211.html Recipes are found as normal drops during the game. They show up as a gold-russet color; yo...

Sadly no. I've been looking into writing one, but the problem is that the best advice to get through the game is pretty obvious, just common sense rules, grinding, and a heavy dose of player options based on your gear luck and play style. For example, the $player x thing: you'll get the most experie...

This might be a bit late and I don't play this mod, but the mod has a few compatibility issues with Windows 7 seemingly centered around how much it doesn't like to access the save files, so that might be it. There are a few options (assuming just getting a new OS isn't): 1. She can right-click the ....

Meh, you just gotta take your time. Make sure you telekinesis those chests from behind a blast wall and spend a few additional seconds over any enemies with their own light source. I figure the original Diablo 1 is one of the grandfathers of HC, back when we were all on dial-up and emails had a prog...

Oh goody someone asked! *claps giddily During the Black Mushroom quest, after you collect the mushroom itself the healer Pepin sends you on a quest to collect a demon's brain for a healing elixir he's making. After you receive that message, the next demon-type creature you kill drops a brain to brin...

It appears your best solution is to regress to an older branch of WINE, it has been reported to be stable on 2.0.4. If that doesn't work or isn't an option can you post a debug report?

Alrighty then. It looks like there's known compatibility issues with Windows 8 (surprise surprise /sarcasm); try this tutorial. http://www.dummies.com/computers/operating-systems/windows-8/how-to-run-older-programs-under-windows-8/ Sorry for all the ads on the page but it was the best I could find. ...

You might not need to run it in compatibility mode. Try turning that off, and while you're in compatibility settings make sure you're running the game as an administrator. If neither of those work, we could use a little more information. When you say the game crashed, do you mean it locked up, it we...

Yup. It's sad but 2H weapons just won't get you there. A fast sword not only applies more damage but increases your crit output and affix damage, and that block chance on a shield is crucial, so a 2H ax has to be about twice as good as your sword and your board (combined!) to be worth considering. P...

Well, I don't think you should change your point distributions based on gear (a few points here and there to make sure you can equip awesome swag is fine), since gear will change throughout the game. Barb skills rely on STR, and DEX is great because not only does it improve raw damage (in the form o...

You mean the monster descriptions? You'll only get the bare minimum (name, type [undead, beast, or demon]) until you kill 15 of them; after you kill 30 you get all of the info available. It'll be on the top of the screen. The original Diablo had it fill in that blank space at the bottom but for some...

It's not so much a straight "from beginning to end" rule of thumb; the game changes as it progresses and you have to as well. I like to split it into 5-level, 25-point chunks: for the first 5 levels, all your points can go into STR since barbs have absurd hit points; then you need to work ...

The Lore of Tristram

1. So this has been bugging me. Does anybody know the lore on how big Tristram was before the coming of Diablo, King Leoric, and all the bad stuff? Certain dialogues in the game seem to indicate it was pretty big, and if nothing else that cathedral is pretty massive (for a medieval church, at least)...
