annoying mouse glitch

Hello,
So when I try to play, my mouse changes back to the windows arrow cursor. It separates from the Diablo gauntlet style cursor. If I click on anything when this happens i return to my desktop. The game keeps running but it is hard to keep playing.
Does anyone know why this happens and what i can do about it.
