I recommend you play Sorcerer first, he's less gear dependent and very powerful, since he is the fastest to learn higher spell levels. When you are comfortable enough with his survivability increase monster power and you'll have more drops and eventually find all items and could twink other characters if you need to. For an easier time and some diversity follow him up with this order: Rogue, Barbarian, Necro, Warrior and lastly Assassin, since she is very gear dependent, but i feel the most powerful melee character in end game, followed closely by Barbarian with a 2h weapon.
